Many people like to bring paint samples into a home to make sure the color will work properly, but frugal living blog Apartment Therapy suggests it might not be enough and you should leave them on the wall for several days before painting.
While it might be a bit extreme for many people, the reasoning is that when you leave swatches on the wall, you can see how they react to light throughout the day and weed out colors as you go along. They also suggest taking samples from a variety of shades for each color to increase the chances you'll pick something you don't want to immediately paint over. Photo by Karin Dalziel.
