Care clinic invites patients to advisory committee meeting on Thursday

Join us for the quarterly Patient Advisory Committee meeting on Thursday from 4:30-6 p.m. at the clinic, located at 360 Peak One Dr. Ste 100, in Frisco. Carriage House's annual wine pairing on Thursday

The Carriage House Early Learning Center is pleased to announce its 16th annual wine pairing taking place at the Breckenridge Golf Club Clubhouse. The evening will begin at 6 on Thursday with a silent auction, live music and stations with excellent food and wine. Tickets are $85 per person or $650 for a party of eight. All proceeds will benefit the Carriage House.

Medicare sales event at community/senior center on Thursday

On Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Summit County Community and Senior Center, medicare specialists and advisors will be conducting a medicare sales event. Expert guest Rudy Deutschmann from Insurance Advisors in Denver will be in attendance as well as other professionals to inform, advise and enroll anyone who wants guidance. Various other insurance products will also be represented and available for enrollment. TIPS training set for Friday

Summit Prevention Alliance will host a TIPS training on Friday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Summit County Community and Senior Center. We will meet in the Fremont Room. Have staff sign up at http://summitpreventionalliance.org/events/tips-training/

Copper Environmental Foundation accepting grant applications

The Copper Environmental Foundation (a nonprofit 501c3), dedicated to the environmental sustainability of Copper, Frisco and the surrounding areas announces the 2011 grant cycle. The CEF was started in November 2007 by Copper employees, with a long-term goal to support environmental initiatives in Summit and the surrounding area. The CEF supports projects that promote environmental sustainability through education, scientific research or community-based initiatives in our community. To date, the CEF has granted more than $80,000 to local community groups.

The CEF's 2011 grant cycle continues with a focus on providing funding for youth (ages 5-18) environmental programs or projects in Summit and Lake counties. Projects should have environmental education and/or action components and should have a positive impact on the community. Projects with the potential to be replicated or continued in future years are strongly encouraged. Grant requests are considered annually and to request a grant application, email

environment@coppercolorado.com or visit www.coppercolorado.com/environment to download an application. The CEF is accepting grant applications up to $20,000. Eligible recipients may be private and nonprofit organizations, government agencies or individuals. Applicants are encouraged to call Ben Brown, CEF president, at (970) 968-3012 to discuss potential projects before submitting an application. Email completed apps to environment@coppercolorado.com. The deadline is Friday, by 4 p.m.

Funds in the CEF are generated by employee-paycheck donations and through donations during special events. Each and every employee-donated dollar is matched at 100 percent by Powdr - Copper Mountain, LLC. A committee of Copper employees will make decisions on grant awards.


Breck Elem. PTSA invites vets, parents & community to flag-raising ceremony

Breckenridge Elementary PTSA would like to invite all veterans, parents and community members to join us for a flag-raising ceremony on Friday. The entire school will meet at the flagpole at Breckenridge Elementary at 8:45 a.m. The local Boy Scouts will be raising the flag and then we are welcoming the veterans into the classrooms to speak with the children. Frisco Elementary PTSA looking for veterans

Frisco Elementary's PTSA is hosting a Veterans Day event on Friday from 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) We are welcoming veterans into the classrooms to share their views on patriotism and what it means to be an American. Afterwards, we will host the veterans for lunch and encourage them to participate in a school-wide assembly honoring those who have served in one of our nation's Armed Forces. LAPS pet photos with Santa on Saturday in Frisco

Save the date! Pet photos with Santa will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Frisco Historic Park Chapel, on 2nd and Granite. Professional photographer Emily Schmutz will be taking the shots that day. This is a fundraiser for League for Animals and People of the Summit, and a great opportunity to have your pet(s) pose with Santa and/or the Grinch! Sitting fees are per pet, and human family members are free. You will receive 3-5 hard copies of your pictures in time for the holidays. Additional photo CD, holiday cards and ornaments may also be ordered. Sitting fees are $24 for the first pet, second half price and third pet free, with discount for LAPS members. For The Love of the Children conference set for Saturday

Join the Family Wellness Center for its fourth annual For the Love of the Children Conference on Saturday at CMC in Breckenridge. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the conference ends at 12:30 p.m.

The center is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting children's optimal mental health through: training and educating mental health clinicians, training and educating parents and teachers and providing high-quality mental health services for children and families at an affordable cost. The conference is a fundraiser for the center as well as providing educational opportunities for the community.? Speakers and topics will include: Betty Sarber ? Parents Need Support Too, Rena Derezin MA, LPC, RPT ? Do it Yourself Play Therapy, Dr. Justin Pollack ND ? Food and Mood, Dr. Robert Chalfant ? Teen Suicide, Amy Jackson ??Raising Peacemakers.
